the river

Last Saturday was like the first official day of summer in Portland. To celebrate the coming of the sun my girlfriends and I went to the Sandy River for the day. Sara's mom, Sara, was in town and Genevieve's dog, Ola, was in tow. A couple of boyfriends were allowed to tag along, too. :)

I am so lucky..... I have the loveliest friends......

Life's a Beach

This is Brian. He is one of my best friends because of where he is standing in this photo. Those mountains he is flipping off are the Grand Tetons in Grand Teton National Park. In the summer of 2004 we both decided to leave Portland life behind for an entire summer. We got jobs working as waiters for Grand Teton Lodge Company. Our restaurant and dorms were about an hour and a half outside of Jackson, WY. The next closest stop was Yellowstone. We spent the summer drinking every single night with our fellow employees and climbing into the mountains as much as possible. Brian and I became really close that summer. I hope he'll be one of my best friends forever. This is the shortest version possible of the craziest summer of my life.

A red ant bit my toe at a hotspring near Yellowstone about a week before this photo was taken causing me to drop my camera. For the rest of the summer all the photos I took came out all hazy. I was pissed about it at the time, but now I kind of like the haze... it matches my memories.
